Bill has extensive aviation operational and management experience acquired from the Canadian Armed Forces, Transport Canada, NAV CANADA and the Canadian Business Aviation Association.
Bill began his flying career with the Canadian Forces as an advanced flight instructor, maintenance test pilot and operational duty in air defence and fighter operations with NORAD and NATO. He served as Deputy Commander of a CF-18 Squadron in Europe, Station Commander of a remote operational radar site and operational liaison officer with the Canadian Embassy in Washington. Bill’s aviation career continued with Transport Canada and NAV CANADA where he gained airport and air navigation services regulatory expertise. He holds Canadian Glider, Helicopter and Airline pilot licences with over 8000 flying hours in a wide range of aircraft.
Bill’s comes to ATAC from the CBAA, where he was Vice President responsible for the Private Operator Certificate Program. Under this program, the CBAA took a lead role in the application of performance based rules, pro-active risk management techniques and the implementation of Safety Management Systems.
