ATAC’s 2017 Canadian Aviation Conference & Tradeshow


ATAC is pleased to report another very successful Conference and Tradeshow in Montreal with over 500 delegates in attendance. We would like to extend a special thanks to all our Members, Sponsors and Exhibitors whose participation contributed greatly to the success of our conference.


Nick Careen, Senior VP - Airport, Passenger, Cargo and Securtiy of the International Air Transport Association, was our luncheon keynote speaker. Also well attended was the session with Transport Canada's Directors General, Civil Aviation, Denis Guindon and Aaron McCrorie.

AWARDS - Congratulations to the following award winners:


The Jim Glass Humanitarian Award – The 2017 recipient is Dennis Cooper of Sky Wings Aviation.This Award will be given to a member of the Canadian aviation community who has demonstrated selfless generosity, compassion, business acumen and best exemplify Jim's values through community involvement.


ATAC Outstanding Achievement Award - The 2017 recipient is Janet Keim, Saskatchewan Aviation Council. The ATAC Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes those ATAC Members who, though participation in ATAC and other activities, have demonstrated a very high level of service and performance of benefit to aviation in Canada.


ATAC Lifetime Honoree Award - The 2017 recipient is Ken Lett, Executive Flight Centre. This is the Association's highest achievement awarded to individuals who during their lifetime have contributed significantly to the improvement of the Association and the Canadian air transport industry as a whole.


Webster Memorial Trophy Award - Top Amateur Pilot of the Year


The winner of the 2017 Webster competition is Liam Cohen and flies with Seneca College. The 2017 runner-up is Owen Titerle. Owen flies out of Coastal Pacific Aviation.


The winner of the NAV CANADA/Webster Trophy is Liam Cohen and is flying out of Seneca College.
Seneca College will be hosting the 2018 competition. The Webster Memorial Trophy Competition is an annual event intended to declare the "top amateur pilot in Canada".

 

Hope Air Outstanding Philanthropist Award - The award went to Air Creebec. This award recognizes philanthropic leadership by an ATAC member who has shown dedication to Hope Air's mission of removing the barriers of distance and cost that separate Canadians from the specialized health care they require.


David Charles Abramson Memorial Flight Instructor Safety and Legacy Awards - The DCAM Flight Instructor Safety Award recipient is Luke Penner of Harv's Air. The DCAM Legacy Award recipient is Janet Keim from the Saskatchewan Aviation Council.


NEW ATAC BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

The new ATAC Board of Directors for 2017-2018 consists of 24 members. It will be posted shortly on the  Board of Directors page.
