OUR COMMITMENT TO AVIATION
We are dedicated to shaping the future of aviation by supporting our diverse membership, driving innovation, providing leadership in advocacy and issues management, offering access to world leading flight training, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
OUR HISTORY
1934
1937
1942
1962

Founded on November 18, at the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa as the Commercial Air Transport and Manufacturers' Association of Canada.
In 1937 a permanent staff was appointed, and an office was established in Ottawa.
On November 2, 1942, the name was changed to the Air Industries and Transport Association of Canada.
On April 9, 1962, the association was renamed the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC) as the manufacturing members formed their own association, allowing ATAC to focus exclusively on air operators and the commercial aviation support industry.
TODAY

ATAC continues to be a premier aviation, serving as Canada's national trade association for commercial aviation and flight training organizations as well as aviation industry suppliers.
OUR VALUES AND GOALS
-
INCLUSIVENESSATAC values the diversity of the Canadian landscape and air transportation industry. Supporting the industry as a whole and recognizing the unique challenges our northern airlines manage is a strategic priority in partnership with Canadian aviation associations and specifically an opportunity for collaboration with The Northern Air Transportation Association and NAV CANADA.
-
SUSTAINABILITYEnvironmental sustainability is a priority uniting the global industry through the challenges of developing sustainable aviation fuel, carbon neutrality, alternate runway surfaces, flight training aircraft solutions, airspace issues, and more. The Canadian aviation industry is essential to connect domestic and international business for economic sustainability, deliver supplies and the necessities of life and bring people together to support social sustainability. ATAC will lead by example and inform and encourage the membership toward sustainable practices.
-
LIFE-LONG LEARNINGWe must continue to be flexible in our approach to new initiatives and emerging technologies and preparing to embrace them.
-
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENTWe understand now more than ever that the world is in constant evolution. In a global industry we are always improving, innovating and looking ahead.
