A Successful 2024 Spring Event and Aviation Day-on-the-Hill

The Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC) hosted our Spring Event on May 8, bringing together members and stakeholders for informative discussions and productive meetings aimed at addressing industry challenges. We extend our sincere gratitude to all ATAC Members who attended and actively participated in shaping the dialogue.

Our Aviation Day-on-the-Hill reception, held in conjunction with our esteemed co-hosts, provided a unique platform for industry leaders to engage with Members of Parliament on pressing aviation matters.

ATAC extends our heartfelt thanks to our co-hosts and supporting associations, including Canadian Airports Council (CAC), the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA), Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA), National Airlines Council of Canada (NACC), NAV CANADA, and Northern Air Transport Association (NATA), whose collaborative efforts contributed significantly to the success of our Day-on-the-Hill Reception.

During the event, each association had the opportunity to present key industry issues facing their members and engage with MPs and Senators in attendance. ATAC Chair and KF Aerospace COO, Gregg Evjen, gave an in-depth analysis of the issues affecting our industry and ATAC Members.

ATAC would also like to extend a thank you to the Sussex Strategy Group for their invaluable assistance in facilitating meaningful connections between industry stakeholders and policymakers. Their efforts in coordinating the attendance of 24 MPs,14 key staffers representing Ministers, MPs, and Senators ensured the event ran smoothly and that MPs were identifiable for connections with our members and supporting association members. Thank you to those MPs and Senators who were able to attend and lend their ears to the industry’s concerns. Your presence and insights are instrumental in guiding our collective efforts towards a more resilient and prosperous aviation sector.

A special thank you to our Parliament Sponsors Vance Badaway, Liberal MP for Niagara Centre and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport; Dan Muys, Conservative MP for Flanborough-Glanbrook and Deputy Transport Critic; and Xavier Barsalou-Dubal, Bloc Quebecois MP for Pierre-Boucher-Les Patriotes-Verchères and Transport Critic. Thank you for the time you took to both attend and speak to our guests.

Furthermore, we express our gratitude to Algonquin College for providing dedicated student volunteers whose contributions were very much appreciated and helped to support the event!

We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to reconvene next year and continue our collaborative efforts in advancing the interests of the aviation industry.
