NRC Unleaded AVGAS Research Project

“US industry and FAA have initiated a Piston Aviation Fuels initiative (PAFI) to develop an unleaded (UL) AVGAS replacement; 4 fuels are now in phase 1 testing , at least 2 are expected to progress to phase 2 testing in full scale engines and aircraft.”

The Goal:

-       Achieve (near) fleet-wide certification of engines and aircraft using the new fuel(s) by 2018 to replace 100LL in existing supply chain by 2025.

The Ask:

The NRC requires financial support from industry support for the project to facilitate testing at the NRC altitude research facility to test engines and flight research lab to test aircraft. Direct funding or other forms of support can be considered including lease/loan/donation of an aircraft for flight testing and/or engines for ground testing.

ATAC has agreed to provide “direct funding” to support the NRC research by soliciting its members for financial donations which will be matched dollar for dollar by the association up to a predetermined cap.

If you are interested in supporting this important research please make cheques payable to ATAC or contact our office for credit card donations.

Global Opportunities for Association 2015-2016

In order to develop the Global Opportunities for Association (GOA) proposal for 2015-2016, ATAC has reached out to the Trade Commissioners in Asia and India for suggestions on possible events that Canadian companies can participate in. The following 2 events have been identified as possible venues for ATAC flight schools to attend as part of an International outreach mission.

1.AOPA Flight Training 2015, will be held Sept 11-13, 2015 in Shenzhen Convention Center, Shenzhen China.

2.India Aviation 2016 is to be held March 2016 in Hyderabad India. (has been attended by Canadian flight training companies in March 2010)

If you are interested in attending either of these events and participating in a Canada booth, please contact Wayne Gouveia at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or by phone 613-233-7727 Ext. 309

Your feedback is important to the GOA projects.

Professional Flight Training Exhibition Dublin Ireland

“The Professional Flight Training Exhibition (PFTE) fulfills the demand to provide pilot career information and is the perfect environment to generate new business, make new contacts and promote your business directly to the next generation of cadet pilots, who are passionate and focused about a career as a professional pilot, or in aviation.

If ATAC member companies are committed to participating in the PFTE Ireland March 2015 then a modification request is required through ATAC with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Development (DFATD) Global Opportunities for Association (GOA) program, to allocate approved funds for the mission to the UK for the fiscal year ending March 31,2015.

The GOA funds will support 50% of the cost for:

1.Canadian Flight Training booth at the PFTE show,

3.accommodation and per diem and

4.ground transportation

The mission funding support travel for up to 5 days in the UK. Additional meetings can be added before and after the PFTE and could target visits with the regulator and major flight school facilities in the UK depending on the goals of the participants.

Please advise me if you are interested in the mission as soon as possible at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
